- 1 Samuel 9 13:22 - So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan : but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found .
והיה ביום מלחמת ולא נמצא חרב וחנית ביד כל־העם אשׁר את־שׁאול ואת־יונתן ותמצא לשׁאול וליונתן בנו - Nehemiah 16 12:11 - And Joiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua.
ויוידע הוליד את־יונתן ויונתן הוליד את־ידוע - 1 Samuel 9 14:45 - And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die , who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel ? God forbid : as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground ; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.
ויאמר העם אל־שׁאול היונתן ימות אשׁר עשׂה הישׁועה הגדולה הזאת בישׂראל חלילה חי־יהוה אמ־יפל משׂערת ראשׁו ארצה כי־עמ־אלהים עשׂה היום הזה ויפדו העם את־יונתן ולא־מת - 1 Samuel 9 14:12 - And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer , and said , Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer , Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.
ויענו אנשׁי המצבה את־יונתן ואת־נשׂא כליו ויאמרו עלו אלינו ונודיעה אתכם דבר ויאמר יונתן אל־נשׂא כליו עלה אחרי כי־נתנם יהוה ביד ישׂראל - 1 Chronicles 13 10:2 - And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons ; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
