- 1 Samuel 9 14:40 - Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.
ויאמר אל־כל־ישׂראל אתם תהיו לעבר אחד ואני ויונתן בני נהיה לעבר אחד ויאמרו העם אל־שׁאול הטוב בעיניך עשׂה - 1 Samuel 9 14:27 - But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath : wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb , and put his hand to his mouth ; and his eyes were enlightened .
ויונתן לא־שׁמע בהשׁביע אביו את־העם וישׁלח את־קצה המטה אשׁר בידו ויטבל אותה ביערת הדבשׁ וישׁב ידו אל־פיו ותראנה עיניו - 1 Samuel 9 14:21 - Moreover the Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp from the country round about, even they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan.
והעברים היו לפלשׁתים כאתמול שׁלשׁום אשׁר עלו עמם במחנה סביב וגמ־המה להיות עמ־ישׂראל אשׁר עמ־שׁאול ויונתן - Nehemiah 16 12:11 - And Joiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua.
