- Commoner - n. - One of the common people; one having no rank of nobility.
- Commoner - n. - A member of the House of Commons.

- Myzostomata - n. pl. - An order of curious parasitic worms found on crinoids. The body is short and disklike, with four pairs of suckers and five pairs of hook-bearing parapodia on the under side. N () the fourteenth letter of English alphabet, is a vocal consonent, and, in allusion to its mode of formation, is called the dentinasal or linguanasal consonent. Its commoner sound is that heard in ran, done; but when immediately followed in the same word by the sound of g hard or k (as in single, sink, conquer), it usually represents the same sound as the digraph ng in sing, bring, etc. This is a simple but related sound, and is called the gutturo-nasal consonent. - Melton - n. - A kind of stout woolen cloth with unfinished face and without raised nap. A commoner variety has a cotton warp.
- Frankincense - n. - A fragrant, aromatic resin, or gum resin, burned as an incense in religious rites or for medicinal fumigation. The best kinds now come from East Indian trees, of the genus Boswellia; a commoner sort, from the Norway spruce (Abies excelsa) and other coniferous trees. The frankincense of the ancient Jews is still unidentified.
- Thus - n. - The commoner kind of frankincense, or that obtained from the Norway spruce, the long-leaved pine, and other conifers.
- Han't - - A contraction of have not, or has not, used in illiterate speech. In the United States the commoner spelling is hain't.
- Pensioner - n. - In the university of Cambridge, England, one who pays for his living in commons; -- corresponding to commoner at Oxford.
