כי אמ־תכבסי בנתר ותרבי־לך ברית נכתם עונך לפני נאם אדני יהוה - Jeremiah 24 4:14 - O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved . How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
כבסי מרעה לבך ירושׁלם למען תושׁעי עד־מתי תלין בקרבך מחשׁבות אונך - Malachi 39 3:2 - But who may abide the day of his coming ? and who shall stand when he appeareth ? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers ' soap :
