- Proverbs 20 10:26 - As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
כחמץ לשׁנים וכעשׁן לעינים כן העצל לשׁלחיו חֹמֶץ Vinegar שֵׁן Crag, × forefront, ivor.. עָשָׁן Smoke(-ing) עַיִן Affliction, outward app.. עָצֵל Slothful, sluggard שָׁלַח × any wise, appoint, br.. [8802] - Ecclesiastes 21 11:7 - Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun :
ומתוק האור וטוב לעינים לראות את־השׁמשׁ אוֹר Bright, clear, day, li.. מָתוֹק Sweet(-er, -ness) טוֹב Beautiful, best, better.. עַיִן Affliction, outward app.. רָאָה Advise self, appear, ap.. [8800] שֶׁמֶשׁ East side(-ward), sun .. - Genesis 1 3:6 - And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise , she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat , and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat .
ותרא האשׁה כי טוב העץ למאכל וכי תאוה־הוא לעינים ונחמד העץ להשׂכיל ותקח מפריו ותאכל ותתן גמ־לאישׁה עמה ויאכל - Numbers 4 10:31 - And he said , Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
ויאמר אל־נא תעזב אתנו כי על־כן ידעת חנתנו במדבר והיית לנו לעינים - 1 Samuel 9 16:7 - But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature ; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth ; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
