- Genesis 1 35:23 - The sons of Leah ; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun :
בני לאה בכור יעקב ראובן ושׁמעון ולוי ויהודה וישׂשׁכר וזבולן בֵּן son Afflicted, age, (Ahoh-.. לֵאָה Leah רְאוּבֵן Reuben יַעֲקֹב Jacob Jacob בְּכוֹר Eldest (son), firstborn.. שִׁמְעוֹן Simeon לֵוִי Levi יְהוּדָה Judah יִשָּׂשכָר Issachar זְבוּלוּן Zebulun - Genesis 1 49:5 - Simeon and Levi are brethren ; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
שׁמעון ולוי אחים כלי חמס מכרתיהם שִׁמְעוֹן Simeon לֵוִי Levi אָח Another, brother(-ly); .. כְּלִי Armour(-bearer), artill.. חָמָס Cruel(-ty), damage, fal.. מְכֵרָה Habitation - Ezra 15 7:24 - Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
ולכם מהודעין די כל־כהניא ולויא זמריא תרעיא נתיניא ופלחי בית אלהא דנה מנדה בלו והלך לא שׁליט למרמא עליהם - 1 Chronicles 13 21:6 - But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
ולוי ובנימן לא פקד בתוכם כי־נתעב דבר־המלך את־יואב - Ezra 15 6:18 - And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem ; as it is written in the book of Moses.
