- Judges 7 12:6 - Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth : and he said Sibboleth : for he could not frame to pronounce it right . Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan : and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
ויאמרו לו אמר־נא שׁבלת ויאמר סבלת ולא יכין לדבר כן ויאחזו אותו וישׁחטוהו אל־מעברות הירדן ויפל בעת ההיא מאפרים ארבעים ושׁנים אלף - 1 Samuel 9 14:32 - And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground : and the people did eat them with the blood.
ויעשׂ העם אל־שׁלל ויקחו צאן ובקר ובני בקר וישׁחטו־ארצה ויאכל העם על־הדם - 2 Chronicles 14 29:24 - And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel : for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
