- Esther 17 9:2 - The Jews gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt : and no man could withstand them ; for the fear of them fell upon all people.
נקהלו היהודים בעריהם בכל־מדינות המלך אחשׁורושׁ לשׁלח יד במבקשׁי רעתם ואישׁ לא־עמד לפניהם כי־נפל פחדם על־כל־העמים - Esther 17 8:12 - Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
ביום אחד בכל־מדינות המלך אחשׁורושׁ בשׁלושׁה עשׂר לחדשׁ שׁנימ־עשׂר הוא־חדשׁ אדר - Esther 17 2:3 - And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women ; and let their things for purification be given them:
ויפקד המלך פקידים בכל־מדינות מלכותו ויקבצו את־כל־נערה־בתולה טובת מראה אל־שׁושׁן הבירה אל־בית הנשׁים אל־יד הגא סריס המלך שׁמר הנשׁים ונתון תמרוקיהן - Esther 17 1:16 - And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
ויאמר מומכן לפני המלך והשׂרים לא על־המלך לבדו עותה ושׁתי המלכה כי על־כל־השׂרים ועל־כל־העמים אשׁר בכל־מדינות המלך אחשׁורושׁ - Esther 17 8:5 - And said , If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king's provinces :
ותאמר אמ־על־המלך טוב ואמ־מצאתי חן לפניו וכשׁר הדבר לפני המלך וטובה אני בעיניו יכתב להשׁיב את־הספרים מחשׁבת המן בנ־המדתא האגגי אשׁר כתב לאבד את־היהודים אשׁר בכל־מדינות המלך
