- Nehemiah 16 13:2 - Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.
כי לא קדמו את־בני ישׂראל בלחם ובמים וישׂכר עליו את־בלעם לקללו ויהפך אלהינו הקללה לברכה - 2 Samuel 10 10:6 - And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.
ויראו בני עמון כי נבאשׁו בדוד וישׁלחו בני־עמון וישׂכרו את־ארם בית־רחוב ואת־ארם צובא עשׂרים אלף רגלי ואת־מלך מעכה אלף אישׁ ואישׁ טוב שׁנימ־עשׂר אלף אישׁ - 2 Chronicles 14 25:6 - He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.
וישׂכר מישׂראל מאה אלף גבור חיל במאה ככר־כסף - 1 Chronicles 13 19:7 - So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people ; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
