- Deuteronomy 5 26:5 - And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous :
וענית ואמרת לפני יהוה אלהיך ארמי אבד אבי וירד מצרימה ויגר שׁם במתי מעט ויהי־שׁם לגוי גדול עצום ורב - Leviticus 3 23:32 - It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls : in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
שׁבת שׁבתון הוא לכם ועניתם את־נפשׁתיכם בתשׁעה לחדשׁ בערב מערב עד־ערב תשׁבתו שׁבתכם - Leviticus 3 23:27 - Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement : it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
אך בעשׂור לחדשׁ השׁביעי הזה יום הכפרים הוא מקרא־קדשׁ יהיה לכם ועניתם את־נפשׁתיכם והקרבתם אשׁה ליהוה - Numbers 4 29:7 - And ye shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month an holy convocation ; and ye shall afflict your souls : ye shall not do any work therein:
ובעשׂור לחדשׁ השׁביעי הזה מקרא־קדשׁ יהיה לכם ועניתם את־נפשׁתיכם כל־מלאכה לא תעשׂו - 1 Kings 11 12:7 - And they spake unto him, saying , If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
וידבר אליו לאמר אמ־היום תהיה־עבד לעם הזה ועבדתם ועניתם ודברת אליהם דברים טובים והיו לך עבדים כל־הימים
